D. AnonD-697247. qIG. 03 Sep 2017My biggest, practically only, complaint about my LG V20 is the charger cord. First, why could they have not made the wall charger cord 6' longer? How much extra could that have cost?
Maybe a nickel? The first thing I did when I got home was plug the phone to get a full charge. The second thing I did was try to answer it when it was plugged in to the wall for charging. The SHORT cord pulled the phone from my hand before it got to my ear.
I am 6' 1' tall. Luckily the phone was not damaged, although it fell to a hard tiled floor. The second issue is why couldn't they have let it use the same micro USB charge port as my last three Verizon phones. That way I would not have had to buy yet ANOTHER car charger cord. I did try Verizon, but theirs was $32.95.
The one $7 one from ebay did not work, right out of the box. I got one from Wal Mart for $22, and still feel ripped off. What is the advantage of using another type of charging port, other than to the charger suppliers?. Rating 0. ?. Anonymous.
IW@. 03 Sep 2017Ridiculous. My G4 also has a removable battery, dual SIM, SD card slot, IR blaster and FM Rad. 'Feels' obsolete?
You're ridiculous!:) Your idea of obsolescence is based on looks and how you feel. If that's how you want to waste money, go ahead. It's not mine anyway. True obsolescence is not being able to use the phone in variety of ways that the current generation is using it and currently, it is being used as an all-in-one device: for calls, text, internet browsing, as camera, video and audio recorder, universal remote controller, FM radio, Music, media and video player, electronic newspaper, electronic book, social media, mobile gaming, map, navigation tool, compass, emergency flaslight, document editing, photo editing, screen casting, etc. The more the usabilty features still available for the phone, the longer a phone is still very useful. The fewer the features, (no FM radio, no IR blaster, no headphone jack, no sd card expansion for ever increasing video and photo file sizes) the faster a device becomes worthless and useless, hence, obsolete.
Rating 0. ?. Anonymous. IW@. 02 Sep 2017LG V30 is pretty awesome but lacks some features what the v20 has.
No FM radio, no removable b. I have the V20. It's almost perfect, the ideal future proof phone that will still likely be alive and usable even after 5 years or more. Why I say so? Because the FM radio is not going away after 5 years, so will 3.5mm headphone jacks. Infrared remotes will still be here after 5 years. Non-removable batteries will be dead and non replaceable by then but the LG V20's removable batteries and external charger accessories mean you can stock spare batteries and stock spare external battery chargers to last you 5 years or more.
The IPS LCD is going to outlast Amoled panels from competing models as IPS LCD panels are inherently brighter. As they go, they usually last 10 years or more, before dimming to unacceptable levels; not so for amoleds. Also, amoleds usually have more severe screen burn the ips lcd panels. The Google operating system may only be upgraded until Android P (Panut butter?) but if you know your way around custom ROM's you may get to even Android R (Red Velvet Cake?). I have no bootlooping issues myself and have not heard the same issue from other owners.
It's LTE speed will still be very fast (LTE advanced capable) and the 4K HDMI out (slimport feature) will still be around and relevant in 5 years or more while the dedicated sd card expansion that supports up to 2 Terabytes of storage will mean no low storage issues even after 5 years or so. This phone is probably the last of the 'HAVE IT ALL' flagship smartphones before every phone manufacturer follows trends that guarantee planned obsolesence as pioneered by Samsung (very fragile/easily breakable NarrowView 18.5:9/2:1 curves glass edge screens, Non-removable, low capacity battery, no FM radio, no IR blaster), or planned obsolesence set by iphone (no 3.5mm headphone jack, no sd card support, no dual sim). In short, don't think about the LG V20 being an 'older 2016 model' phone. Just buy it and its accessories while its still here and available at very reasonable or even bargain prices before it becomes extinct or a rarity meant for the museum of the greatest phones that ever existed. It just might even start to cost more a few years from now when it becomes rare and if the trend towards planned obsolesence (no FM radio, no IR blaster, no SD card expansion, no removable/replaceable battery) by phone manufacturers becomes irreversible. Anonymous. IW@. 31 Aug 2017The stutter/lag only happens in the initial set up of a brand new phone when the phone downloa. In addition, you can also set 'Force GPU rendering' to 'ON' and set 'Force 4x MSAA' to 'ON' in the developer options.
Also ensure 'game battery saver' is off. If the lag/stutter remains, you need to check on hardware. First the sd card must be not defective and at least a class 10 (high speed), sim cards not defective. If after factory reset and doing all these suggestions still result in chronic lag and stutter, it is likely a hardware issue (defective internal storage, RAM, etc.) and it is best to have the phone replaced if within warranty period, or repaired.

The stutter/lag only happens in the initial set up of a brand new phone when the phone downloads android firmware updates via ota, while google playstore automatically updates all apps, attempts to sync everything with your account, and other new phone setup related processes are still running in the background. After everything is complete and updated, the phone should be fluid, smooth, and lag free/stutter free after the reboot. Otherwise, if it remains laggy and stuttery, you may have too many apps that have 'draw over other apps' permission or too many apps that don't work well with battery saving optimization. In that case, go to settings - general - apps -: - configure apps - special access - draw over other apps, also - ignore optimizations. Set draw over other apps permission to NO (except messaging) and set ignore optimizations to ON for all apps. Restart your phone after the settings change.
It should be fluid, lag free and stutter free, even more fluid than any iphone or samsung, old or new. For even more speed, you can go to settings - general - developer options and set the animation scales to 0.5x,0.5x.0.5x instead of 1x,1x,1x. For even more refinement in the fluidity of user experience, download nova launcher, use it as default launcher and go to nova settings - look and feel: set scroll speed and animation speed to fast.
